The most complication in cirrhosis is fluid retention which is associated with increased chances of infection and poor quality of life. The other complications include bouts of coma and confusion. The disease is generally irreversible and the treatment involves further progress of the disease.

What is the cirrhosis diet to be followed?
You can have a regular diet as a normal person. However you should eat more of health foods for the heart such as fruits, vegetables and whole grains. Refrain from eating foods that contain excess amounts of fat.
You should maintain a normal weight as well. Alcohol should be avoided completely and smoking should be very limited if you can’t avoid it completely.
