Obesity Weight Control

The heredity factor is said to have something to do with the genetic make-up that overweight children inherit from their parents. This fact seems to remain unsubstantiated and still unfounded and most scientists credit the child's obesity to poor eating habits and lack of activity rather than genes. Illness is also one factor that can create overweight children. Such illnesses include physical and psychological illnesses like depression, hypothyroidism and neurological problems. One other factor that is being researched by scientists is the relationship lack of sleep has with childhood obesity. There have been findings that children who lack sleep are more predisposed to becoming obese as compared to children who have enough sleep.

No matter what factors affect a child's weight, trying to keep a child healthy is essential not only for his over-all health but also for his confidence, wellbeing and for his future. Parents should keep this in mind and find ways to keep their children at a reasonable weight
